TESTIMONIALS

What our clients have to say about American Air & Heat, Inc…

I am writing this letter in appreciation for your thorough and expeditious installation of my new air conditioning system. Your installation team started and completed the job including the addition of another 6-inches of insulation in my attic in a single day on August 16,2011. Your team worked so hard on an unbelievably hot, humid day to have our AC out for just the day. Beginning with the first night, our new air conditioning is wonderfully improved. If the energy system cost reduction is as projected, replacing the old system will be one of the best decisions we have made in difficult economic times.

The “decision” to replace our 14 year old system, which was a Freon refrigerant system and leaking Freon in the air handler coils, was really a no-option decision. Selecting American Air and Heat was another story. We called you first because you have been maintaining our system for most of its 14 year life, which we understand is about the limit of life expectancy in Florida. The old system was a replacement of the system originally installed when the home was built in 1986. We began to use American Air & Heat as our maintenance provider approximately 5 years after the system was installed and have continued to call upon you for service thereafter. A principal reason for our staying with you for service has been your consistent responsiveness. There was never any wait when we experienced air conditioning problems. You were there the same day and had us up and running the same day.

We began taking your service contract option offered about four years ago. We were impressed that you gave us the service promised in your contract and the 10% discount on parts. We felt the contracts were a good value, honestly administered, and credit your annual maintenance for avoiding system down times. Because we had a current contract, you included a big parts discount in your proposal for our new system.

This brings me back to our company selection decision for our new system. Since we were pleased with your service, particularly your responsiveness, you were asked to quote first. Your Representative, Todd Lindner did a thorough assessment of our home, the existing system, and options available from just replacing the leaking air handler to a choice between two all new systems. When he finished , we were provided with a detailed WRITTEN (by clean, clear computer printout) completed work scope and price for each option with included guarantees IN WRITING. These were not “estimates”. These were firm, fixed price quotes for a clearly defined scope of work. We appreciated the thoroughness, quality and clarity of his proposal.

One of the things on American Air and Heat’s recommended buyer checklist for selecting a company to do whatever work we would elect was to get at least three bids. That is good advice and reflects a confidence in being competitive also reflected in your Best Value Guarantee offering to refund the difference plus $50 if another company underbid the same apples-to-apples work scope with performance by NATE certified and drug free tested personnel. That’s competitive pricing confidence.

Our second bidder was a much larger company which has only recently extended operations into the Central Florida region having been principally in South Florida. The company was Unique Air Conditioning and Heating. Their representative did not propose addition to and enlargement of the air return duct work to handle the 4 ton system installation he was proposing. In fact, he never developed a clear, written proposal of work scope and although there was a lot of pencil work on note pad and paper, his pitch never reduced his estimating work to a firm quote. We were shown a “contract proposal” form that would have all the blanks filled in once we committed. A Principal tact to his sales approach was to bash the maintenance work of American Air & Heat by pointing to the black algae on our old air handling unit’s exterior while assuring us that his company would never have allowed our unit to get into such a state. I mention this because Todd has advised me that a picture of our old air handler has become a poster child used by this sales person in presentations to other potential customers that are also considering American Air & Heat. I did not intend this to be the case, and wish to set the ‘word straight’: The old system was not installed by American Air and Heat and your maintenance began after much of this bad complective exterior had progressed beyond expected maintenance. If moisture condenses on warm surfaces in Florida, you get algae. What was needed was scrubbing with Tilex or similar algae removal solution, re-taping handler duct seams, sealing with mastic, and repainting. This would have prevented water from condensing on the duct work and algae formation. This was not included in maintenance contract work scope; although the Unique representative insisted I should have been and would have been had his company performed the maintenance. At what cost? We can only guess. If a photograph of my old unit’s appearance is being used by any company to put the service of American Air & Heat into question, it is without my knowledge or permission. Hopefully, this offers some mitigating explanation that can be shared with prospective customers.

When the bidding process of selection of a company to do our work was complete, American Air & Heat had offered the best FIRST PRICE the only clear, WRITTEN definition of work that would be done (in
fact, one company used American’s itemized list of work to go to their management for authorization to a match your price.) They “said” they would do it, but it was never in writing. I can only guess that they
planned to append American’s work scope to fill in the blanks. After we made our selection of American, we received a telephone call from the Unique representative making an offer to cut the price by $500 “to gain our business and avoid our being unhappy with American.” We stayed with our commitment, and American stayed with theirs to the letter of the written proposal with no additions to the proposed cost. That’s what we expected, and that’s what we got.

I have been in many similar high pressure, good-guy/bad-guy, competitor bashing, let-me-talk-to management episodes in my life experiences of buying cars. You come to expect it because it goes with
the territory. We did not expect or appreciate this approach in looking for a home improvement contractor, and it ultimately decided me to go with a local, long term company I know and trust, American Air & Heat. We are happy with our decision and the results. We look forward to our
continued service by American, which, by the way, was attempted to be placed in doubt by the Unique representative when he mentioned that we should consider a “rumor” that your company was “up for
sale”. Thought you would like to know.

” I just had my annual tune up and inspection done on our homes A/C system. I would like to commend Jason for his steely eyed professional get it done attitude. He was very friendly and respectful of our home. He advised me of the issues I could potentially face and recommended options to help me make a decision. I don’t normally contact companies with my opinions but I thought that Jason did a wonderful job and should be recognized. Because you employee people like Jason, I will continue to use AA&H for all my heating and cooling needs.”

“Recently we had our annual A/C inspection and it was found our current A/C was frozen. We were then told we needed a new A/C unit. The technician, George” came to our home, to discuss the installation and finances of this new A/C. We wish to at this time, thank all the technicians and management personnel involved in the installation of our new A/C unit. It was done in a most professional and courteous manner and we are very pleased with the entire procedure. “Ron” made sure the entire situation was handled in a most professional way. We are very pleased with American Air & Heat.”

“We are writing this letter to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Brian Detter, John Walker, Richard, Quentin, Randy and all of the fine folks from American Air & Heat for the wonderful new 4-ton, dual-speed Amana air compressor and air handler unit that was installed on June 18, 2011 at our new home.

Shortly after our home purchase we discovered that the HVAC equipment on our property was aged and inefficient. Additionally, our interior home environment was uncomfortable – due both to high temperature and high humidity. We contacted American Air & Heat and spoke with Brian Detter who scheduled an initial consultation for us with John Walker. John arrived and measured the air volume of our living spaces and explained the available compressor and air handler options suitable for our needs. There was no charge for John’s visit and he took time to explain the details of his findings as they related to available replacement equipment options. What impressed me most while speaking with John was his truly consultative approach. At no time did he make a recommendation or advocate a specific brand or size of equipment. In fact, I asked him point blank which system he would recommend and his response was that he would rather that I understand each option and alternative sufficiently enough to make my own decision. If that seems odd, consider that, looking back, I appreciate the fact that John was there to advise us and educate us in order to make an informed decision as opposed to simply securing a sale. Now that the system is installed I can see why American Air & Heat uses this consultative approach; we are 100% certain that we have the right system – and we understand why. There’s nothing better than the confidence that comes along with making the right buying decision – but this is only one of the reasons that we would recommend American Air & Heat.

Once we had chosen the equipment we wanted to purchase, John helped us obtain financing. This was extremely convenient and allowed us to schedule the installation that very same day. Within a week our new air conditioning was up and running.

However, the main reason we chose American Air & Heat was installation. John told us from the outset that there is a relation between the longevity of the system and the quality of the installation. He set high expectations for the upcoming installation – and I intended to hold American Air & Heat to their word. The morning before Father’s Day Richard, Quentin and Randy arrived right on time with two (2) trucks to install the 4-ton Amana compressor. They spent the next eight (8) to nine (9) hours removing the old system and installing the new one. They were polite and tidy and accommodated my series of curious questions as they worked. I was impressed with the care for detail that they showed in sealing the spaces around the air handler, adding blown-in insulation to the attic, re-wiring our thermostat and running tubing under the garage and out to the compressor. Bottom line – they met and exceeded my expectations. Even when they encountered three or four unique challenges, at no time did they give me the impression that they were stuck or that they would merely ‘have to come back and finish this up another time’ like you might hear from some less-proficient companies today. They overcame each challenge – right up until 6:00 PM that Saturday evening. We really appreciated that.

Now when we have guests we ask them to guess the thermostat setting. We’ve had guesses anywhere from 69 to 75 degrees when in fact the thermostat is always set at 80 degrees. Because the humidity control is set at 50% of the temperature most people think that the 80 degree air they are feeling is actually much cooler. Can you imagine the monthly energy savings? And don’t forget to ask American Air & Heat about additional savings and tax credits.”

Thanks again for a job well done!

“Approximately two months ago, I had an issue with one of my two air conditioning units. Your technician stopped by to see what the problem might be and decided he needed to replace a part. When he returned and replaced the part, he noticed that the temperature was correct but that the pressure was not where it should be. What impressed me the most was that he could have told me it was fixed and I would not have known the difference. Instead, he called his supervisor who subsequently worked the problem until it was completely fixed. I believe that this incident exemplifies your company’s commitment to serve your customers to the best of your abilities.

My confidence in American Air & heat continues to increase as I follow up with those friends with whom I have recommended your company to. They are all very pleased with how you have taken such good care of them and their air conditioning needs.

Specifically, some of the aspects that impress me about your company are:

  • Clean cut, uniformed technicians who have been with the company a long time, involved with continuing education, courteous, and prompt.
  • The vast experience and knowledge in this field, practical assessment of the problem and solution, low key, non pressured sales presentation, and fair prices.
  • The timely and reliable communication between the company and the customer during scheduling, follow-up, and customer service.

Please feel free to share this letter with future, potential customers. A good company deserves to be recognized!”

“We had a Carrier Electric Heat Pump installed by your company. A little over one year later we had flooding in our home related to a problem associated with the improper installation of the platform/float switch of the unit. Subsequent to this flooding it was necessary to appropriately recline the platform, install a new float, replace wet insulation have a portion of the wood floor in our living room and dining room replaced.

This letter is written to commend all of the representatives of your company with whom we came in contact related to the above issue. All were highly professional and supportive in assisting us throughout the resolution of this problem.

In particular we were especially impressed with Mr. Willie Borda who worked on replacing the wet wood floorboards in the home and matchiJ)g them to existing hardwood on the floors. He was very professional in his work and frequently voiced an admiration and respect for your company and his peers/supervisors. His work was excellent and we are very satisfied with the outcome. Two outsi??e professionals had told us that all of the floors in the home (i.e., 3 large rooms and multiple joining hallways) would need to be completely sanded, restained and varnished. Mr. Borda was able to fix the problem by finding closely matching hardwood and restaining/matching it to the rest of our wood floors.

As the result of our experiences with your company, we have recommended you to family, friends and multiple people within our church group. I’m certain that, under similar circumstances, many other companies would not have acknowledged or accepted responsibility for what happened. The fact that your company stood behind their name and corrected all of the issues says a lot about you and character of those people whom you hire to work for you.

Thank you for your service. You can be sure we w!1l continue to praise you and recommend you to everyone we know.”
